Josh is attending
Asbury Theological Seminary
in Kentucky. Asbury Theological Seminary is located in Wilmore, Kentucky.
Josh wrote the following about his experience thus far--
Wilmore
Kentucky? Who would have thought that I would find myself headed there?
A town of about 800 people. A town in Kentucky. A place that is far
away from all friends and family. A place that appears to be so far
removed from what I had grown up knowing in Minnesota. Yet it’s a place
where God is at work in many.
I, like many, had not heard of Wilmore until I answered the call from God on my life and began exploring Seminary options. I was initially drawn here due in part to family history, but that aspect was removed when I visited the Seminary. Initially upon arrival, I felt my preconceptions about living in a small town come to the fore. Where is the McDonald's? The Dairy Queen? Wendy's? A Mall? Something other than a two lane road? The list of amenities that I had grown up with are not here. All of these things quickly became a meaningless upon arrival at the campus. The welcome was awesome, and immediately I felt the presence of God, and I knew that this was where my wife Heather and I would be spending the next few years of our lives.
Thus far in my Seminary experience I have grown more in my faith than I could have ever imagined. All of this has been possible by the grace of God through many. Pilgrim United Methodist church has played an integral part in my ability to attend here. The gifts, the prayers, the connection, and the friendships are all very important and are proving to be a key factor. God’s work through the members of Pilgrim United Methodist church has been truly an amazing blessing to Heather and I. It is that work that allows me to continue my preparation for ministry here in the small town of Wilmore Kentucky at a Seminary known as Asbury, where lives are changed and God’s presence is made known to many.
